Services


If you are concerned that your child's progress at school is affected by learning problems - we can help.

We provide a comprehensive service that includes:

  • an educational assessment to identify dyslexia and learning disabilities
  • screening for Irlen tinted lenses
  • a written report detailing all assessment results and making recommendations for educational support
  • ongoing support to ensure that parents and schools are able to provide appropriate support.

We advise parents, teachers and schools so that appropriate programs are available to children of all ages.

Parents and schools have used our service to ensure that they are providing the best program for students and meet the requirements for "access to the curriculum" under Anti-discrimination Legislation.


Adult services are also available.

We provide four main services:

 

Individual Assessments

Testing

  • Individual assessments.
  • Parents are asked to fill in a background questionnaire before testing.
  • Assessments are available at BIRKDALE, in the Redlands and in TOWNSVILLE.
  • An assessment takes approximately 90 minutes and you are welcome to enjoy this free time to go for a coffee or shopping nearby.

 

Reporting

After assessment we write a report which:

  • Gives you all the test results.
  • Recommends ways for you to help your child.
  • Lists the ways your child's teacher can help in the classroom.
  • Provides information sheets on specific topics.
  • Provides references for you to learn more about dyslexia.


We try to have reports completed within 2 weeks of the assessment.

Reports are usually mailed to you but may be collected if you live close by.

 

Supporting

  • After you receive your report our professionals are happy to discuss any issues over the phone with you and/or your child's teacher.
  • If specific problems occur then consultancy services are available at an hourly rate.


Our reports meet the requirements for the provision of special considerations for:


Appraisement; support through State, Private and Independent schools in Queensland, NSW and overseas; Queensland Studies Authority; Queensland Core Skills Test; Office of the Board of Studies in NSW; TAFE Colleges; Private Colleges; Universities and Employment.

Seminars / Workshops

  • Seminars and workshops are available on demand for schools and community groups.
  • Each seminar or workshop is tailored to meet the specific needs of your group.
  • Costs are dependent on the venue, the length of the seminar and the number of participants. We are happy to prepare a quote for your individual needs.

Consultancy

  • Consultancy services are available to parents, teachers and schools on a needs basis.
  • Services are negotiable and proposals are provided on request.

Regional and Interstate Clients

We receive many requests for assessments from NSW and Victoria. At present we have not been able to find suitably qualified professionals wishing to operate a business in these States.


Clients wishing to have assessments in Interstate and Regional or Rural areas of QLD may request a quote for the cost of a DTS Professional to travel to them. If there is a group of clients in a single area then costs may be shared.


We are happy to "Wait List" your request until a cluster is formed in an area.
